Pioneer Boys & Girls of America

Vision for the Future

Today, the problem of most volunteer youth organizations is not the availability of youth membership. Rather, in this current climate of litigious society, more adult supervision is needed for every “on site” youth member than ever before. These adult volunteers are harder to obtain than ever. Couple that with the large number of sport activities offered by almost every town for its youth, it becomes more difficult to grow an active youth membership.

Several efforts can be utilized to gain youth membership in your town’s population. Among them are some of the following;

  1. A full time, youth oriented, program administrator to develop and run a functioning, youth program that can support it with yearly fund raising.

  2. Provide a program or programs available to youth and their parents, that is always available on the internet 24/7. Not only could these programs give the youthful members a place to learn more of our culture and offer them challenges by increasing their skills in various areas, but they could also be an assist to parents who are seeking ways to become better parents.

  3. These success driven programs must be maintained on an active basis to create the needed and wanted communication between your youth membership and their “Pioneer guides”.

  4. Once these programs are active, quarterly or annual awards programs could be activated to recognize the youth who are bettering your community by their achievements in your programs.

  5. Local businesses could be enlisted in this recognition process as “Partners” in supporting your programs.

  6. A mentor program could be implemented in your schools where available adults could mentor children using the tennents of Pioneering as a way to help children grow into responsible adults, while completing school. (and hopefully going on to college.)
